In a break with tradition, the notorious ascent of Mont Ventoux will be featured on the next-to-last day of the 2009 Tour de France. Ordinarily, the race has a time trial on the next-to-last day, deciding the overall results before what is largely a ceremonial ride into Paris on the last day.
