Changes For Tour De France
In a break with tradition, the notorious ascent of Mont Ventoux will be featured on the next-to-last day of the 2009 Tour de France. Ordinarily, the race has a time trial on the next-to-last day, deciding the overall results before what is largely a ceremonial ride into Paris on the last day. Next year, Mont Ventoux, a punishing climb on which the British rider Tom Simpson died in 1967, will be the 20th of the 21 stages. nytimes.com |
